A very special little dude turned one yesterday, and I knitted him this little wool giraffe. I don't know what his name is actually going to be, but it was Gerald during his time with me.
I used this pattern, but with worsted weight wool on size 3 needles. There are several minor errors in the pattern, like stitch and row counts being off, but otherwise it knitted up easily. I used two new-to-me cast ons: provisional and Turkish. More knitterly details are on Ravelry, if you're so inclined.
I can't decide what I love more, his little potbelly...

ReplyDeleteThanks! I would highly recommend the videos at http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/learn-to-knit I know several people who have learned to knit that way. Your local yarn store should offer classes for beginners too, if you learn better that way. Good luck! It's a fun hobby.

ReplyDeleteHi LeeAnn! It's 100 Purewool 3-ply worsted in the Calisto colorway. Their website is 100purewool.com. I don't see that colorway listed right now (although I only looked at the 3-ply), but Reign is very similar, just without the bits of natural-colored wool.
